The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention assures readiness against Ebola, urges Caution on International travel

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), has initiated measures to strengthen the country’s preparedness, following the confirmation of an outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in Uganda, advising Nigerians to shelve travels to countries affected by the disease.

The Centre also announced that so far, there is no case of Ebola in Nigeria.

The NCDC in the public health advisory noted that although the World Health Organisation advises against any restrictions to travel and/or trade to Uganda, Nigerians and residents are urged to avoid all but essential travel to countries with confirmed cases of the Ebola Virus Disease.

Making these disclosures in a public health advisory signed by the NCDC Director-General, Dr Jide Idris, the Centre noted that Uganda has experience in responding to Ebola Disease outbreaks, and necessary action has been initiated. meanwhile

Police Operatives attached to the Ogidi Area Command in Anambra State have arrested a man while he was trying to escape with a five years old stolen child.

Spokesperson of the Anambra State police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this in a press release said the arrest was successful because of credible information by indigenes of the area.

He said the suspect, one Joshua Simeon, male, aged 32 years from Ohaozara in Ebonyi State was arrested on 1st February 2025 by 4 pm at Nkpor Central Park, Idemili North Local Government Area.

Ikenga said efforts are also ongoing to reach out to the parents or relatives of the recovered child for possible reunion.

He added that the Command is committed to protecting vulnerable members of society, to combat child abduction/trafficking and to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the state.
